10th Grade

Welcome Back, Sophomores!

Sophomore year is all about building on the strong foundation you established during your freshman year. Continue challenging yourself academically, exploring your interests, and preparing for your future after high school.

Promotion to 11th Grade

To be promoted to 11th grade, students must earn at least 12 credits, including:

  • 1 credit in English II
  • 2 credits in Math, Science, and/or Social Studies
  • 2 additional elective or required credits

Sophomore Success Tips

  • Become familiar with the PSAT and PreACT to begin preparing for college entrance exams.
  • Join a club or organization and consider pursuing a leadership role.
  • Participate in athletics, fine arts, or other extracurricular activities.
  • Build strong relationships with your teachers, counselors, and school staff.
  • Continue taking courses that support your future goals, whether you plan to attend college, enlist in the military, or enter the workforce.
  • Visit CFNC.org to explore college planning, career pathways, scholarships, and financial aid resources available to North Carolina students.
  • Participate in community service, volunteer opportunities, or internships to gain valuable experience.
  • Explore summer opportunities such as enrichment programs, camps, employment, or volunteer work.
  • Talk with your parents, guardians, counselor, and other trusted adults about your academic progress, career interests, and post-secondary plans.

Remember:
Sophomore year is the perfect time to explore your interests, strengthen your academic record, and begin preparing for the opportunities that await after graduation. Stay focused, stay involved, and continue building your future as a Gryphon!
