Welcome to your freshman year at Rocky Mount High School!
Ninth grade is the beginning of an exciting journey filled with new opportunities, challenges, and experiences that will shape your future. This page is designed to help you stay informed, meet important milestones, and make the most of your first year as a Gryphon. Promotion to 10th Grade
To be promoted to 10th grade, students must earn at least 6 credits, including:
- 1 credit in English I
- 2 additional credits from Math, Science, and/or Social Studies
Freshman Success Tips
- Join a club, organization, athletic team, or fine arts program.
- Get involved in school activities and become part of the Gryphon community.
- Build positive relationships with your teachers, counselors, and staff.
- Advocate for yourself by asking questions and seeking help when needed.
- Enroll in courses that align with your future goals, whether that includes college, the military, or the workforce.
- Visit CFNC.org to explore college and career planning resources, financial aid information, and tools designed for North Carolina students.
- Participate in community service, volunteer opportunities, or leadership organizations to develop new skills and interests.
- Take advantage of summer enrichment programs to expand your knowledge and experiences.
- Talk with your parents, guardians, counselors, and other trusted adults about your academic goals and future plans.
- Be mindful of your digital footprint. Colleges, employers, and scholarship organizations may review your online presence, so use social media responsibly.
