Graduation Requirements
Graduation from Rocky Mount High School requires students to earn 26 total credits while successfully completing all North Carolina graduation requirements.

Mathematics (4 Credits)

A fourth-level mathematics course
Science (3 Credits)
Earth & Environmental Science
Biology
One Physical Science course (Physical Science, Chemistry, or Physics)
Social Studies (4 Credits)
Students must complete the required North Carolina Social Studies sequence based on their cohort, including:
World History
American History
Civic Literacy
Economics and Personal Finance
Healthful Living (1 Credit)
Electives (10 Credits)
Electives may include courses in:
Career & Technical Education (CTE)
Visual and Performing Arts
World Languages
Physical Education
Additional English, Mathematics, Science, or Social Studies courses
Other state-approved electives
World Language
A World Language is not required for a North Carolina high school diploma. However, students planning to attend a four-year college or university should complete at least two levels of the same World Language to meet most university admission requirements.


Senior Information
Throughout senior year, students will receive important information regarding graduation, including cap and gown ordering, senior meetings, graduation timelines, and other senior activities. Students should regularly check school announcements, email, and the Student Hub for important updates and deadlines.
Senior Conferences
Each senior will meet individually with their school counselor to review graduation requirements, verify course completion, discuss post-secondary plans, and ensure they are on track for graduation. Students are encouraged to prepare questions, update their résumé or activity list, and discuss college, military, workforce, or career goals during their meeting.
Senior Cord Ceremony is a special event in each senior's high school career. RMHS has several cords that we have available for senior to earn over the duration of the time in high school.
