Scholarships and Financial Aid General Info

General Info about Scholarships and Financial Aid

Many free scholarship search websites have emerged (like www.fastweb.com ) that can really help you connect to scholarship opportunities. You can also use search engines like www.google.com or www.yahoo.com to help you search. As a rule, NEVER pay for scholarship search assistance. Virtually all state, regional, and national scholarship programs can be found with just a little effort surfing the web or linking through the websites below, and by checking the SENIOR Scholarships and Opportunities page to the right. Many local opportunities will be advertised on the school website, or sent to you through your Counselor's group of student emails. With all opportunities, pay close attention to eligibility requirements, procedures, and deadlines! Good luck!

The first step for Seniors in saving money on colleges in North Carolina (especially public institutions) is getting the Residency Determination System to analyze that you are an IN STATE Resident, making seniors eligible for the IN STATE rates after High School graduation, and the costs are much lower than for students from other states.  Once you have completed RDS, then complete and submit College applications for admission (start with www.cfnc.org or the Common Application), then complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid).
