Rocky Mount High School AFJROTC Program Earns Outstanding Organization Award
NASH COUNTY, N.C. — Nash County Public Schools (NCPS) is pleased to announce that the Rocky Mount High School AFJROTC program (Detachment NC-933) has achieved the esteemed Outstanding Organization Award (OOA). This recognition underscores the program's commitment to excellence and marks its inaugural reception of this prestigious honor.
Out of the 850 AFJROTC units globally, Detachment NC-933 of Rocky Mount High School has secured an exceptional position, with fewer than 10 percent of units receiving the sought-after OOA. This accomplishment reflects the program's dedication to academic excellence, leadership development, and community engagement.
Each cadet who participated in the program during the preceding academic year will be awarded a distinguished ribbon to be proudly worn on their uniform. This ribbon signifies individual achievement and collective teamwork contributing to this recognition.
Lieutenant Colonel Leon W. Docker, Jr., Lt Col, USAF (Retired), AFJROTC Instructor of NC-933, expressed appreciation for the collaborative effort that led to this milestone.
"Achieving the Outstanding Organization Award is a testament to the joint commitment of cadets, instructors, and unwavering administrative support," said Docker.
NCPS takes great pride in commending the Rocky Mount High School AFJROTC program for this extraordinary accomplishment. The Outstanding Organization Award underscores the program's dedication to nurturing leadership, discipline, and excellence among its cadets, reflecting the core values that NCPS uphold.
"These awards recognize the personal growth and accomplishments of the cadets, contributions of the instructors as mentors, and the support of the school and local community," said Colonel, USAF Director, Air Force Junior ROTC Johnny R. McGonigal.
